Biggest viewing audience for a Melbourne football club?

China v Melbourne Victory

More viewers than for the AFL Grand Final!

BEIJING - The China National team will play a friendly against A-League Champions Melbourne Victory in their final warm-up game ahead of the Asian Cup.
The game will take place on July 4, six days before China kick-off their Asian Cup campaign against Malaysia.

It is also the glamour tie of Victory's Asian tour before they take part in the Lord Mayors Cup on July 7 with Melbourne set to face sister-city rivals Tianjin Teda, who are currently sixth in the Chinese Super League.

"This tour is highly significant in that it establishes Melbourne's credentials within an Asian context, both for our club and the city," Victory Chairman Geoff Lord told the club's official website.

"It is also a great opportunity to provide visibility for our sponsors in the Asian continent."
China are in Group C of the Asian Cup, alongside Malaysia, Iran and Uzbekistan.

China squad for Thailand friendly

This is the Chinese squad to play a pre-Asian Cup friendly against Thailand:

Interesting, to me anyway, is the number of players we have seen in Australia this year playing in the Asian Champions League against Sydney FC and Adelaide United. Gives you an idea of their quality compared to the A-League sides and the Socceroos.

Li Leilei (Shandong Luneng), Yang Jun (Tianjin Teda), Chen Dong (Dalian Shide); Zhang Yaokun, Ji Mingyi (both Dalian Shide), Zhang Shuai (Beijing Guoan), Li Weifeng, Du Wei (both Shanghai Shenhua), Jiao Zhe (Shandong Luneng), Cao Yang (Tianjin Teda), Xu Yunlong (Beijing Guoan), Xin Feng (Shenzhen); Li Tie (Sheffield Utd), Hao Junmin (Tianjin Teda), Wang Dong (Changchun Yatai), Zhao Jun Zhe (Liaoning), Yan Song (Dalian Shide), Jiang Kun (Shanghai Shenhua); Li Jinyu, Han Peng (both Shandong Luneng), Qu Bo (Qingdao), Shi Jun (Young Boys Bern)
