Mark Viduka: I don't remember you Eamonn!

Socceroos stars Jason Culina and Mark Viduka were accosted by yours truly in the lobby of their hotel in Bangkok.

They took time to chat and have a photo, despite this being their day off.

"Hi Mark, I work for the Canberra Times, would you mind a photo."

"No problem." says Mark.

"Jason too?"

"Sure." says Jason

"Hey Mark I played against you when you were in Canberra playing for the AIS, in the Canberra Premier League."

"Yeah, which team."

"I was with Canberra Olympic. (Pause) Don't you remember me?"

"No." says Mark.

So there's my claim to fame. No, not that I played against Mark Viduka, but that he doesn't remember me:)

Ace Reporter setting out!

I'm getting a tad excited.

Yes, I'm 44. But the emotion is starting to come out.

I'll fly out on Thursday to Bangkok for my first ever game/tournament as a football writer.

It's going to be hot. But I'm well prepared. Drink bottles, new shorts purchased, laptop, bag to carry laptop, mobile phone, digital camera....yep I've raced into the techno age.

Bought my first ever mobile phone 8 weeks ago! So, still struggling with some of the gadgets on it.

I hate it when someone text's me, and I have to text back. It takes me forever. Still I'm getting better, each text reply can be done in under 30 minutes now. Yes It was worse.

Worried about the temperature in Bangkok. Not for the players for me. Just wondering if the pool at the hotel will be big enough and can I use my laptop by the pool with toes in the water.

Talk about heaven!

Went to a Press Conference in Canberra on Wednesday. Trial run!

Microphone, I use a Thompsons ipod thing $39, had run out of recording room. So I couldn't figure out for ages why the thing wouldn't work! So I played the game.

You know pretended it was working, and put the microphone in front of various people.

They kept a straight face. How would they know?

I dashed home to take down everything my brain could remember.

So you see it can only get better in Bangkok...can't it!
